Not All Immersive Film Is 360

Immersive experiences don't necessarily need to involve 360-degree film. The re-launched ICE Hub incorporates a brand new feature, Immersive 2D film.

The first flat film to populate this new section is the FirstCar and Central Bedfordshire Road Safety production "If You Could Change". The concept for this film was based on a vision by Road Safety Manager Tim Oxley to highlight the devastating moment a police officer knocks on the door, to deliver life-changing news to the families of four road victims, each killed in a crash involving a 'fatal four' causation factor - speeding, using a mobile phone, drink and drug driving and failing to wear a seat belt.

'If You Could Change', which cost £12,000 to create, was produced after casualty data showed that the majority of deaths and injuries that occurred on the roads of Bedfordshire in recent years were linked to the ‘Fatal Four’. 'If You Could Change' was a huge success from the moment it went live on social media, reaching almost 10,000 viewings on YouTube in its first week. Since its launch, it has been widely supported across the road safety network, articles from Road Safety GB, Intelligent Instructor and Bill Plant Driving School.

By combining the immersive benefits of a VR headset with 2D flat film we create a cinematic experience for our viewer, taking them out of their world and removing distractions, into a place where they can emotionally connect with the story.
